Another fun, summer weekend has come and gone! The weekend didn't start out very well, as our air conditioning broke and went out on Friday afternoon. Friday was also the hottest day Chicago has seen in 4 years. Friday night was so extremely miserable, but luckily our neighbors brought us a fan at midnight to help us get through the night. Poor Sonoma was so sweaty and hot and spent Saturday morning in a diaper. We were extremely lucky, and were able to get an HVAC repair man out to our house on Saturday morning - just 2 hours before our best friends from Carmel, Indiana were set to arrive for the weekend. We were really worried what we would do without AC, but thankfully it all worked out.
Sonoma. . . meet your boyfriend, Riley. . .
Marc and Stephanie Ertel have been our best friends since 2005, when we met while we lived in Indianapolis. Marc and I worked together at Tourdesign, and as soon as the 4 of us hung out together, we knew it was the start of a wonderful friendship. Ever since we moved from Indianapolis in 2007, we have made trips back and forth to visit one another every few months. This was the first time hanging out together with both of our sweet babies and we all had such a great time! Riley was born on January 1st, 2010, and is almost 7 months old. After the Ertels arrived we walked around the riverwalk in downtown Naperville, and then went to Hugo's. We spent the evening at home with a pizza from Lou Malnati's and talked from 7-midnight while the babies slept.
Riley is so alert and a very busy little baby! Marcus had a fun time hanging out with the little man:

Riley definitely was crushing on Sonoma and kept touching her and smiling. It was so adorable! We are very anxious to watch them grow up together, and hopefully experience many family vacations with one another!
